What is a Volunteering Holiday?

Asha-and-friends.jpgA chance to work alongside highly committed local Sri Lankan people and gain a unique insight into another culture.

A chance to make a difference, to connect with Sri Lankan people and communities in another culture, gaining an insight into cultural differences as well as the similarities of our lives.

A chance to be inspired, stretched and be changed in surprising, unexpected ways.

Asha-January-2006-010.jpgA chance to relax and have a holiday.  Tuk-Tuk volunteers spend half their time working, and the other half sightseeing and enjoying a country often referred to as a "tropical paradise".

The work can be challenging: its hot, the facilities where we work are often basic, meeting and working alongside people in poor communities can be exhausting. But despite this you will be rewarded in the knowledge that you're using your holiday to make a difference.

So at the end of each day you will return to a comfortable room in a small friendly hotel. You will have air-conditioning and en-suite facilities and you'll enjoy dinner in local restaurants each evening.

A typical Tuk Tuk 15 day volunteering holiday

Day 7-8
Take a break in your voluntary work on this excursion to explore the beauty of the island including an opportunity to visit a tea estate and see wild elephants at close quarters.

Days 9-12
Volunteering with the projects

Days 13-15 Your last three days will be spent relaxing on a southern coast beach, ensuring that you finish your break refreshed and rejuvenated.
